Samsung GALAXY S5 Hits The Shelves For Rs 51,500
After a big launch last month, Samsung’s next flagship finally reaches retailers.
Samsung launched its GALAXY S5 along with its Gear wearables range with much fanfare last month. Till now, only Gear range was up for sale on the Samsung E store with deliveries shipping only from the 12th of April. Now it’s finally time for the GALAXY S5 to steal the limelight, because the S5 is now available for purchase both online and with retailers for a price tag of Rs 51,500.
Samsung has a number of offers available as well to push sales right from the very beginning. If you purchase the GALAXY S5 from the E Store, you can get free shipping and plethora of payment options to choose from. There is cash on delivery, EMI options and a 20% cash back on purchases made via a Citibank credit card (when you pay the balance amount).
The GALAXY S5 certainly makes for a better successor to the GALAXY S3 than the GALAXY S4. This is simply because the S4 was a simple incremental update and failed to meet fan expectations right from the very beginning. Although the GALAXY S5 offers nothing exciting, it at least brings better hardware in the form of an octa-core Exynos 5422 (A15 1.9 GHz + A7 1.3 GHz) processor with Heterogeneous Multi-Processing. The phone comes with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory which can be expanded via a micro SD card slot. On the front is a 5.1 inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixel) Super AMOLED display with a 2.1MP front-facing camera at the top. On the back is a 16MP camera module with LED flash, a BSI sensor and offers UHD video recording. The dust and water resistant handset comes in many colours, as mentioned during the launch, but for now only the black and white versions are available in stock on the Samsung E Store.
Samsung clearly ticks all the boxes on our hardware checklist for this year’s flagships. Being launched much ahead of its closest competitor Sony, Samsung will definitely get a head start until the Xperia Z2 arrives on Indian soil.
