XOLO Launches Q1010i With Sony’s Exmor R Sensor

Brings quality imaging to its mid-range line-up.

 

XOLO’s Q1010 appeared online on a retail website just a month ago and now it seems that there is a new variant out already. Well, it’s not exactly a variant to begin with but let’s just refer to it as an update. The XOLO Q1010 was the successor to the original Q1000 and now just months after its launch, we already have the Q1010i.

What does the ‘i’ stand for? Well, the ‘i’ is the only differentiator between the Q1010 and its successor. It refers to the new camera sensor which is all thanks Sony. The primary camera sensor is an 8MP Sony Exmor R sensor with a bright f/2.0 aperture, and a 5 element lens which will help you take better quality images. The pixel size has also increased to a larger 1.4µm which should improve low light image quality by a huge margin producing sharper and brighter images. A capable 2MP camera on the front will take care of all those selfies and video calls as well.

The rest of the specifications on the XOLO Q1010i remain the same as it predecessor. The large 5 inch (1280 x 720p) IPS display comes with One Glass Solution (OGS). This helps reduce the phone’s weight while allowing better visibility in daylight thanks to the reduced number of layers. Inside there is the 1.3 GHz quad-core processor by MediaTek coupled with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal memory which is expandable via a micro SD card slot. Powering all of this is a 2250mAh battery which can deliver a total talk time of up to 9.7 hours.

The phone runs on Android Jelly Bean version 4.2 but XOLO has promised a KitKat firmware update soon. Another interesting feature of the device is the ability to launch apps from the lock screen even when the device is in sleep mode. All you have to do is draw a pre-defined gesture on the screen and the linked app will launch directly from the sleep mode.

The handset comes only in black and will be available with retailers later this month at a price tag of Rs 13,499.
