LG G Flex Gets A Much-Needed Kitkat Update

Update brings ‘Knock Code’ to LG's high-end phone.

 

Retailing for Rs 67,000 in India, the LG G Flex was clearly out of reach for most Indian buyers. For the few who did buy the large phablet, there's some good news. The LG G Flex KitKat roll-out has begun and it brings the much-awaited improvements with it.

The long awaited update brings plenty of performance improvements. More importantly, it brings LG’s Knock Code feature to the G Flex. For those of you who are not familiar, Knock Code gives you the ability to unlock your phone by tapping on four pre-selected areas of your screen. What is important to note here is that the phone’s display remains off while the knock code is being fed in. This makes for a great security feature for any device, which is why LG plans to push the feature to the rest of its smartphone range.

Apart from the Knock Code, one can expect performance improvements that come with KitKat. The LG G Flex always stuttered even while scrolling through native apps, so this is indeed a much-needed update in this regard. An improved Bluetooth Car Kit is also available. The Car Kit can now display album art and even notifications such as received messages. The update is expected to roll-out in phases. So far it only seems to be available in South Korea.
