Rumour: Samsung's Budget Smartphone G310 To Run KitKat
Is Google pressurising manufacturers to ship new handsets with the latest version of Android?
It was just a month ago when we first reported about a leaked documents that mentions Google’s new policies for manufacturers. It is speculated that according to the new rules, manufactures will be required to release all phone (including the budget ones) with nothing less than the latest version of Android. It seems like the first manufacturer to follow these guidelines is Samsung.
GSMArena reports that Samsung is building a budget phone that will run KitKat out-of-the-box. The phone will have a 4 inch WVGA (480 x 800 pixel) display with a Broadcom chipset powered by two Cortex A9 cores @1.2 GHz. There is no word on the pricing and other details yet, but we do know that there will be a dual-SIM variant as well.
Is this the beginning of something new for Android with the low-end devices sporting the latest and greatest version of Android? It sure is a good news for consumers, as they don’t have to wait for months (or even years) just to get a software update.
