Developers Can Now Integrate Beats Music In Their Apps
With this latest move, Beats Audio takes on streaming services such as Spotify and Pandora.
In an attempt to better take on music streaming services such as Spotify and Pandora, Beats Music has opened up its API to developers allowing them to create apps using the music — subscription service's catalogue to play tracks.
Beats differentiates itself from other music streaming services through the use of human curation and algorithms to best find tracks you like. The company says it offers a service rather than just offering access to a server full of music.
According to a Wired report, opening up its API, developers will not only allow Beats Music to reach mobiles and desktops, but also the car infotainment systems. With cars becoming ever more connected and tech giants such as Google, Microsoft, and Apple jumping to offer their services inside vehicles, this seem like a smart move.
The company's developer states: “Beats Music believes in being as open as possible, because we think the best ideas come from you,”
Beats Music offers users a level of control on what they listen to, while also curating tracks based on their likes and moods. The service's move to open up its API only shows that the battle for music-streaming dominance is making headway in not just traditionally connected devices such as phones and personal computers, but also cars.
