Case Closed: Samsung To Pay $930 Million For Copying Apple Products

The Korean company loses money, but saves itself from a sales ban.

The Apple Vs. Samsung court battle was one of the most interesting series of events to happen last year. The U.S. court slapped a massive fine of $1.05 billion on Samsung, but Apple was more interested in a nation-wide sales ban.

Well, the Jury has finally closed the trial, revising the fine to $930 million. It has also ruled out Apple's request to ban Samsung products in America. Still, we feel that the war between these two giants hasn't ended yet. Both competitors would be back in court again for another showdown soon, as Apple has already started a new lawsuit. This time it includes some newer devices like the Samsung’s best-selling GALAXY S III which Apple is after.

Samsung seems to be breaking ties with Apple already, as it was reported earlier as they would not be involved with the production of the upcoming iPhone 6. The electronics giant claimed that the processors were low-yield in terms of returns and hence had to opt out since they had plenty at hand already. The contract ended up in the hands of Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co., which had more than the required capacity to keep up with Apple’s demanding production schedules.

Let’s just hope that Samsung learns to build and design something original past this and we see some real innovation happening apart from a fingerprint scanner.
