Apple's SmartWatch Might Feature Solar And Motion Charging Tech

Expect Apple to deliver on long battery life in its iWatch.

After Pebble and GALAXY Gear, now Apple is working on its smartwatch. According to Cnet, the Cupertino-based company has been testing both solar and wireless charging for the long speculated iWatch. The wireless charging method would involve magnetic induction. In short, the watch will need a compatible charging plate — much like how the Nokia Lumia 920 would charge on DT-900 plate. To increase the battery life, Apple is considering the possibility of integrating a solar-charging layer in the screen. We wonder how practical that would be.

The report states that the iPhone maker might also implement "charging the battery through movement, a method that is already used in many modern watches...". In this method, a tiny charging station generates power as the user moves his hand. As of this writing, we have no information regarding the iWatch's release date.
