Google To Shut Down Picnik
Will retire a few other services as well, as part of its "New Year Resolution".

Google has announced on its blog that it will be retiring certain services and turning some of them into open-source projects for continued development. The most significant of these is Picnik, a popular online photo-editing tool that will face the axe on 19th April. Acquired in 2010, the service offers basic online image editing capability. With this move, subscription-based premium services are now being offered free of cost to all users till the application is suspended. Members who had paid for these services will soon get a refund.
However, the Google Sky Map app for Android will not be axed. It will be converted into an open-source project instead. It seems that the search giant is cleaning up its closet to concentrate on products closer to its heart (or pocket).
