ACK Comics Makes Grand Entry On The Windows 8 Platform

Now, the magic of Amar Chitra Katha lands on Windows 8 tablets and notebooks.

 

After making its presence felt on the Android (via third-party developers) and iOS platforms, ACK Media has finally decided to officially come to the digital platform. And it starts with the Windows 8 platform. In an official press prelease, Microsoft has stated that the free app, developed by Ninestars’ App9 Digital Studio, will let you "browse, buy, download and read hundreds of old favourites [sic] as well as the latest titles from Amar Chitra Katha, on the go". So basically the app is free, the comics obviously aren’t. However, five comics dubbed to be the Editor's Pick which includes Shakuntala, Birbal the Wise, Tirupati, Tenzing Norgay, and Anant Pai will remain free of cost to Windows 8 users.

The app will remain exclusive to the Windows 8 platform for the first month, after which you can expect it to find its way to the Android and iTunes app stores. Once the time ends, expect three more comic titles, to be free, the press realise doesn’t specify which ones though. The app offers the comics to a single user account in either "Flipbook mode (standard, page by page) or Panel-by-Panel mode" depending on the dimensions of the device running the OS.
