Dual-Screen Yota Phone Launches With An Ambitious Price Tag

The Android 4.2 smartphone features a 4.3-inch E-ink display on its back.

 

Right on time, the YotaPhone has been released in Russia and some parts of Europe. It's a crazy Russian Android phone with two screens — a 4.3” LCD touchscreen with 720x1280 pixels on its front and a 4.3" E-Ink (as seen on Kindle) display with pixel dimensions of 360x640. The E-ink panel doesn't support touch-input. There's a touch zone below the screen for gesture controls. The device is powered by a 1.7 GHz dual-core processor. Apart from that, you'll get 13 megapixel camera coupled with LED flash, front-facing 1 MP snapper, 2 GB RAM, 32 GB internal storage, and 1800 mAh battery.

According to GSMArena, Yota has initially brought 500,000 units to its launch markets including Russia, Germany, France, Austria, and Spain. Based on its performance, the phone will be then rolled out to other parts of Europe in January. As of this writing, Yota hasn't provided any information on its plans to expand its reach to the US and India. The Yota phone is priced at 500 Euros that translates to Rs 42,000. We do like the way this Russian company has executed the idea and design. However, the phone's pricing is quite ambitious.
