ZOTAC Launches nano AQ01; A Pint-Sized Nettop With Quad-Core Muscle
Sports AMD A4-5000 APU, Radeon HD 8330 GPU, HDMI/DisplayPort, and inbuilt 802.11ac Wi-Fi and Gigabit Ethernet.
Zotac has spruced up its ZBOX nettop range with quad-core power. The ZBOX nano AQ01 now boasts of AMD's A4-5000 processor, where the four cores are clocked at 1.5 GHz. Being an APU, the processor comes mated to Radeon HD 8330 GPU. That's a definite upgrade over the miserable Intel HD graphics that ship with the more expensive ZBOX models with Intel processors.
The ZBOX range of nettops have been designed to draw minimal power and are meant to serve as excellent solutions for HTPC and download rigs in a compact Mini-ITX form factor. The nano variants do the same with even lower power consumption and in a smaller Nano-ITX footprint. The nano models, until now, were powered by AMD's E-series Brazos processor. The introduction of the more powerful A-series APUs should allow users to take on heavier, more processor intensive tasks now.
The ZBOX nano AQ01 is crafted out of aluminium, with a chassis that fits in your palm. Don't let its diminutive size fool you, because it's armed to the teeth with HDMI and DisplayPort outputs, 802.11ac Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0 radios, Gigabit Ethernet, USB 3.0 as well as high-amperage USB ports for quick charging. The nano also ships with requisite VESA mounts to slap it at the back of your TV/monitor for maximum optimisation of desk space.
Just look at all those ports!
The best part is that the ZBOX PCs bear high quality components sporting long-lasting solid capacitors. That means, they will last really long. I know because my own ZBOX has been running without a hitch for over three years. The ZBOX nano AQ01 comes in regular as well as Plus flavours, with the latter being costlier because it includes 4 GB DDR3 RAM and 500 GB hard drive. The standard version of the new nano is price at Rs 18,300, while its plus edition can be purchased for Rs 26,500.
