Google Joins Hands With O-Zone For Free Wi-Fi

Unlimited internet access limited to Google+.

Search giant Google has teamed up with public Wi-Fi provider O-Zone Networks to provide free unlimited Wi-Fi access to customers at select locations across India. Google+ users can take advantage of unlimited access at O-Zone hotspots. The company statement says that the aim of this joint marketing programme is to encourage mobile internet usage and let consumers experience Google+ and YouTube on portable devices. Users will be able to watch exclusive movie clips and promotions on YouTube for 10 minutes per week, free of cost.

Sanjiv Sarin, CEO of O-Zone Networks said, "With the increasing number of Wi-Fi enabled handheld devices, Wi-Fi hotspots are on a rising trend and appeal to those on the move. This association reinforces the fact that people are not realising the power of Wi-Fi. With India being the fastest growing internet market in the world, people are very conscious of the content they view online".

This offer will be initially available for three months at over 5000 O-Zone Wi-Fi hotspots across the country. These can be located at outlets such as Caf Coffee Day, McDonalds, Coffee Bean, and Tea Leaf, Costa Coffee, Subway, and OM Bookshop. Talks are on for extending the time period beyond 3 months. However, keep in mind that the unlimited internet access is for Google+ only, along with 10 minutes of YouTube per week. It is not yet known if there are plans to allow completely unrestricted internet access.
