Google Search Tries To Touch An Emotional Chord With Latest Ad
It's not about what you search, but about what your search leads you to.

It's not about what you search, but it's about what your search leads you to. That is possibly what Google's latest advert, dubbed as Google Search: Reunion tries to highlight.
The YouTube video description reads: "Partitions divide countries, friendships find a way. The India-Pakistan partition in 1947 separated many friends and families overnight. A granddaughter in India decides to surprise her grandfather on his birthday by reuniting him with his childhood friend (who is now in Pakistan) after over 6 decades of separation, with a little help from Google Search". Check out the video below:
The ad, which has been made by ad agency Ogilvy has already gone viral over the web, and with over 3,904,000 views on last count. Most ads these days have tried to target people either through their IQ, or EQ, with the brand name taking a back seat. The most obvious pick of the lot is Nokia which is trying to find its footing again in the mobile phone arena (read more about it here, and here).
This is not the first time that the Indo-Pak connect has been used in an advert. A while back, Coca Cola went viral with similarly-themed ad, which you can check out here.
Ogilvy on its part is known to come up with ads such as these with are very high on EQ. Check out their Incredible India advert here.
