Children's Day Google Doodle Gives An Ode To Women

Google4Doodle winner announced; logo will grace the website on 14th November.

 

In its fifth year, Google India has announced the winners of its Google4Doodle contest, which is held for school children across different age-based categories. The theme for this year's contest was "celebrating the Indian women". The winning entries have been picked from "over 1.5 lakh entries, from more than 1,500 schools across 100 cities. The final 12 doodles were shortlisted and put up for online voting", reports Times of India.

The winner is a Pune-based student, Gayatri Ketharaman. The doodle titled "Sky's The Limit for Indian Women" will go live on Google India's homepage on Children's Day, which happens to be on 14th February November. She describes her doodle as: "Each letter of my doodle depicts a trait of the Indian Women. She is graceful and elegant, adept at balancing work and home. She is a go-getter. She personifies motherhood. Even in the face of adversity, she is courageous. Kudos to Indian Women".

Winner in category one (Class 1-3) was the artwork designed by Madhuram Vatsal of Lucknow, which depicts Indian women in various facets. He explains, "my doodle shows all the forms of Indian Women - a learner, a warrior, a goddess, a dancer, a scholar and a jewellery lover".

The doodle named "Women Are Future, Empower Them Better" bagged the prize in category 2 (class 4-6), and the one called "Indian Women Leading Our Country" was adjudged winner in category 3 (Class 7- 10).

All 12 of the finalists can stake claim to a Google Goodie bag as well as an Acer C720 Chromebook.
