Apple Debuts A Leaner And Meaner iPad Air

The flagship tablet now comes with a powerful A7 chipset.

 

Apple has announced its latest tablet, the iPad Air (thankfully it's not just called the "New iPad"). The name is quite apt, considering the slate has actually shed weight and some bezel in its latest version. At 7.5 mm it's one of the thinnest tablet in the market. As we had reported earlier, Apple has kept the slate's screen size intact. Just like its predecessors, the iPad Air is made of aluminum, which separates it from the myriad of plasticky tablets from the Android camp.

The new iPad sports an IPS screen with pixel dimensions of 1536x2048. In simple words, users won't be able to find a stray pixel. Similar to the iPhone 5S, the iPad Air boasts of the A7 chipset, which is claimed to be twice as powerful compared to its predecessor, the A6. The new SoC will enable console-grade graphics on the the new iPad. Contrary to what many expected, Apple decided against going with the fingerprint scanner in its flagship tablet.

The iPad Air will be available in Silver, White, and Gray. The storage options start from 16 GB and go all the way up to 128 GB. The tablet is expected to hit the American market on 1st of November at a starting price of $500 (approx Rs 31,000). Check out complete specs here.
