Bose SoundTouch Wi-Fi Music Systems Bring Simplicity And Omnipresence To Music
A brilliant app with a seamless integration between hardware and music library is what make these systems unique.
We have known Bose as a lifestyle audio company that has delivered some interesting and innovative audio solutions over the years. Be it noise-cancellation headphones, or unusually powerful sound output from speakers with a tiny footprint, the buzz word has been audio quality, more often than not. This time around, the story is a little different. No, the sound quality hasn't been compromised, but that is not what takes centre stage here. With the SoundTouch Wi-Fi music systems, the focus is on ease of use and convenience.
Notice how I haven't used the word speakers, but systems, because that is what these new products from Bose truly are. Yes, essentially the SoundTouch 30, SoundTouch 20, and SoundTouch Portable are Wi-Fi enabled sound docks. But the app that sits on your Android or iOS devices and grants you complete access to your music library on your PC or Mac, Internet radio stations around globe, and of course the speaker functions, is what turns these speakers into systems, and takes them to a different level altogether.
The Way It Works
I got a chance to play around with the app, and I must say that it is one of the best designed apps I have come across, as far as ease of use is concerned. The way it seamlessly integrates with the speakers is something special.
To give you an example, you can choose a song, or a playlist, or a radio station of your choice and assign it to one of the 6 presets available by just dragging and dropping it on the preset. At any point in time, you can play the same by simply pressing the corresponding button on the speakers, or the remote control, or in the app itself. Simple!
Specifications and Pricing
I will share more about these sound systems shortly after we put them through the grind at our test labs. For now, have a quick glance at their key features/specs and images below.
