YouTube Announces Online Music Awards

Nominations will be out on 17th October, ceremony follows on 3rd November.

Now YouTube has many overnight Frankenstein monster stars with millions of fans. And now, the video-sharing service is all set to give back to those with real talent (or somewhere close to real talent). On 3rd November, YouTube will host its first ever music awards, which will be "a live-streamed event honoring [sic] the artists and songs that you have turned into hits over the past year", as its official blog describes. The actual event will take place in New York City, with Music-video visionary Spike Jonze appointed as the creative director and actor Jason Schwartzman will host the show.

Before the big night, the nominations will be declared on 17th October "based on the videos that you watched and shared over the past year". That said, it is not clear whether the awards will be declared on the responses and votes collected across social media platforms though. Since its just round the corner, we'll find out soon. Nevertheless, break out your Karaoke gear and upload a video of you singing if you want to be part of this or the next round of YouTube Music Awards.
