The PS Vita TV Brings Games & Services To Your TV For Rs 6500

Gets a Japan only launch on November 14; hooks up to existing DualShock controllers.

The Ouya and GameStick should be running scared, because Sony has announced the PlayStation Vita TV. The upcoming console pretty much seems to be a set-top version of the PS Vita handheld. It seems like this diminutive console seems to be the company's answer to these Android-powered upstarts. Like the Ouya and GameStick it connects to your TV, but the icing on the cake is the ability to allow existing DualShock controllers to hook up with it.

The console sports an HDMI output in addition to USB, power, and Ethernet ports. Sadly, the proprietary Vita memory cards will be making a comeback as well. For about the same price as these mini-consoles, the Vita TV plays Vita games while also giving access to Sony's Music Unlimited and Video Unlimited services. It is also said to support Twitter and Hulu applications. The mini console will connect with the PlayStation 4 for remote play, which will allow you to take PS4 games to another room.

The Vita TV has been slated for a November 14 launch in Japan, with no word on when it will be sold in the rest of the world. The PS Vita TV will retail in Japan for 9,954 yen (Rs 6,300 approx). In the meantime, you might want to check out the promo video below.
