XOLO Forays Into Tablet Market With 8” TAB

The Jelly Bean tablet features a quad-core processor and voice-calling.

After making its presence felt in smartphone segment, XOLO has now entered the tablet market. The company’s first tablet is simply called the XOLO TAB. It sports an 8-inch IPS screen with pixel dimensions of 1024x768. That's an unusual combination of screen size and resolution. At the heart of the device is a quad-core Snapdragon 8225Q chipset clocked at 1.2 GHz. That's a low-end quad-core chip from Qualcomm's stable, but then you can't complain about it at this price point. To handle gaming, there's an Adreno 203 GPU, which should be just about fine to handle casual games. Apart from that, you get a 2 megapixel rear camera, 4 GB of internal storage (2.5 GB user accessible), microSD card slot, and 4000 mAh battery. It also has SIM card slot that supports voice calling and 3G data (no USB-dongle required).

The tablet offers Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) out-of-the-box. With 1 GB RAM, it's safe to assume that the tablet won't spoil the Jelly Bean experience. As you can see from the press shot, the tablet shares a few design elements with XOLO's Q600 smartphone. The XOLO TAB is priced at Rs 13,500, and will hit the stores by the end of this week.
