Samsung Unveils Note 3 With A 5.7” Full-HD Screen
The device is expected to launch on 25th September.
Samsung has announced its top-of-the-line handset, the GALAXY Note 3. Successor to the Note 2, it sports a relatively bigger 5.7" full-HD AMOLED screen. Similarly, in terms of processing power, Samsung has thrown in some impressive numbers. The 3G variant will be powered by an octa-core Exynos chipset (A15 1.9 GHz + A7 1.3 GHz). Having tested the S4, it's safe to assume that these A15 and A7 processors won’t work simultaneously. In the LTE version, you'll get a 2.3 GHz quad-core processor (probably the Snapdragon 800). We’re quite sure that Samsung will release the octa-core variant in India. To facilitate smooth multi-tasking, the Korean brand has gone with 3 GB of RAM. The camera has gone up from 8 to 13 megapixel in the latest iteration. It can record 4K video at 30 fps and full-HD (1080p) clips at 60 fps. The snapper is also said to feature Smart Stabilisation, but at this moment we're not sure whether it’s a hardware-based feature as seen in the Nokia camera phones with PureView branding.
On the software front, the phone will ship with Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean). Samsung also claims to have improved its S Pen functionality. Clicking the S Pen button while hovering it over the screen brings up Air Command that gives quick access to five features as explained below:
Action Memo
An easy way to take notes, execute a function, or convert handwritten information into formatted content. Action Memo can initiate a call, add to contacts, look up an address on a map, and search the web.
Scrapbook
This feature enables users to organise content and information from various sources including the web and gallery, all in one place. For instance, you can crop and save portion of a webpage or gallery image in scrapbook for future reference.
Screen Write
This feature allows you to take screenshot, and add information onto the captured image.
S Finder
S Finder allows users to search for content on their device. Think of it as the Search feature on your Windows PC.
Pen Window
Improving upon the concept of multi-window feature, the Note 3 now allows you draw a custom size window for multitasking.
The Note 3 looks like any other Samsung phone from the front. However, the Koreans have managed to provide a different look-and-feel by using faux-leather material on the back cover. Samsung GALAXY Note 3 will be available in Jet Black, Classic White, and Blush Pink. The Samsung GALAXY Note 3 is set to launch on the 25th September in more than 140 countries around the world.
