Votes Up: 59% Readers Use Internet On The Move

But 3% people still don't exploit the full potential of their handsets.

As the Facebook's, Google's, and Microsoft's of the world scramble to ensure that internet reaches all recesses of the world, smartphone manufactures are trying just as hard to bring out economical handsets. Not that all of them have the same (if at all noble) intentions, but overall, it has brought web connectivity to most users in the country.

Beside voice and text based communication, new age phone double up as a multimedia tool as well. Our recently concluded poll highlights just that. While a massive 59% of our reader base need to use the web when on the move (38% users enjoy web surfing, and 21% are cued in on social networks), there is quite a lot of enthusiasm for gaming as well.

A look at our last poll results also affirms this notion; readers picked the XOLO Play over the Micromax Canvas 4, which boasts of a 13 MP camera. The number of people looking for using their phone as a camera, or a multimedia device seems to be quite small, which is probably good for those who are paranoid about their privacy (mobile cameras can be incredibly intrusive).

That said 3% people still use smartphone just to call or text. With 3G prices also tumbling we can only hope, these 3% users also realise the full potential of their handsets. Or at least opt to buy one.
