Google Search Home Page Gets a Design Upgrade
The new design however isn't available to all users yet.

As the world rings in the New Year, Google has a nifty little surprise planned for its users. The world's most popular search portal is all set to get its "biggest home page changes to date". While the change is currently not available to all users, the new design has replaced the black strip that runs on the top of the site with a grey logo. Hovering the cursor or clicking the logo offers a drop down list of alternate Google services.
Analysts suggest that the new design will help Google promote its other products without "cluttering its webpage". However, it seems all that the biggest home page revamp adds is a drop-down menu.
