Microsoft Sets Launch Date For Windows 8.1
Global availability starts from 18th October.
Those who kept away from Windows 8 for the lack of a Start button, Microsoft has finally relented. According to its official blog, users will be able to get their hands on Windows 8.1 as a free update from the Windows Store starting 18th October. Microsoft has scheduled this launch at 12:00 am in New Zealand, so Indian users can expect it to start rolling out by 17th October. The operating system will be available online and in brick and mortar shops on the same date.
Those who follow Microsoft's Windows release cycles closely, will realise that version 8.1 comes eight days before the first anniversary of the Windows 8 official launch. With features such as 'Boot to Desktop' making a coming back, we sure hope that this update helps Microsoft win back its lost desktop users.
