NVIDIA Tegra Tab 7 May Challenge Tablets And Portable Gaming Consoles
The Tegra 4 based tablet is expected to run Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean operating system, and support a stylus.
Graphics major NVIDIA who recently launched its new Android-based handheld gaming console, the NVIDIA Shield, is now working on its own 7" tablet computer running Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean operating system. This device has been spotted in recent AnTuTu benchmark tests. According to a report published in Android Community, NVIDIA's tablet may be named "Tegra Tab 7".
It is expected to feature a 7" display with a likely pixel density of 1280 x 800 pixels. Apart from the display aspects, the recently released NVIDIA Tegra 4 chip is likely to feature in the company's exclusive tablet, going by the trend that NVIDIA followed in its Shield gaming console (which also has a Tegra 4 mobile SOC). As for the operating platform, the Tegra Tab 7 in all probability will feature the Android 4.2.2 platform (as spotted in the benchmark results).
As per the report, the device will have a 5MP camera, and support for an exclusive stylus. NVIDIA is also rumoured to have incorporated a micro-HDMI port in the Tegra Tab 7.
The NVIDIA Tegra Tab 7 may get an edge over other tablets, if the stylus and the micro-HDMI port actually make it to the final product. The release date of the device is unknown at this point in time. Even various technical details such as the amount of RAM (critical to NVIDIA's gaming aspects) and internal storage have not surfaced yet. Whether the device is good enough to threaten not just rival tablets, but also the hand-held gaming consoles, we will soon know.
