You No Longer Have To Be A Developer To Create Windows Phone Apps
Microsoft's IE10-based tool is easy to use for anyone without programming knowledge.
For those who have great ideas for apps, but lack programming knowledge, Microsoft has launched a new tool that is just for you. The Windows Phone App Studio, is a browser-based tool (specifically works with Internet Explorer 10 and above), which allows you to follow a 4-step approach for creating WP apps. These four steps involve choosing a template for a Marketplace category, such as entertainment, music+video, or sports. You can then add content such as images, videos, RSS, and Twitter; choose your style, which is colour palette, live tiles, lock screen, splash screen, etc, and finally take the source code that the tool provides, which you can further edit or just go ahead and generate the app. While you follow the steps, the software displays a preview of the app at the right of the browser. The app can be downloaded to your own phone, or publish it to the Windows Phone Store.
You will need a Hotmail.com or Outlook.com email id to get started. Before you get going, you are required to send an email to [email protected], requesting an invitation code that will let you proceed further. The invitation code should arrive within 24 hours of your request email. To publish the app though, you will need a Dev Center account. If you don't have one already, then you can get one for $19 (approx Rs 1200) with the on-going Summer Break time-limited offer that will last till 26th August. So what Windows Phone app would you like to create? Let us know in the comments section below.
