Twitter's Two-Factor Authentication Now Via iOS And Android Apps

Verification codes can now also be sent to your smart device, no SMSes required.

After bringing out two-factor authentication for its web-based service, Twitter now lets you generate an access code from the iOS and Android apps, with a new update. The official blog states that once enabled, you'll need two passwords, your original login password, and the code that comes to your verified mobile phone number. So now, instead of an SMS, the code will come to your inter-enabled device, via the app instead. Twitter suggests that this move make the authentication system more global, as SMS verification is available worldwide. That said, the basic authentication process remains unchanged: You still need a password and a security code. What's new is the way the code reaches you.

Apart from that, the update also brings a few new changes. New search options bring forth social context as you type out the search term, along with a photo gallery in its results. Besides swiping through photo thumbnails, there is a new View more photos option to expand the search gallery.
