Panasonic Announces Android-based Landline Phone

The cordless phone runs Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich).

After its first smartphone — the P51, Japanese manufacturer Panasonic, is now re-entering the once-popular home phone segment, popularly known here as landlines. Surprisingly, the new home-phone runs Android, and going by its images, looks like a modern version of a cordless phone.

The Panasonic KR-PRX120 runs Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) operating system. Even Though certain technical aspects about the device, such as the CPU and RAM have not been made public yet, the known key technical specifications include:

  • 3.5" multi touch screen display.
  • Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system.
  • 0.3 MP front camera.
  • One-touch Google Play access support.
  • Base station, for handset docking.
  • Bluetooth, Wi-Fi.
  • 1450 mAh battery.

At this point in time, Panasonic's KR-PRX120 is not available in India. It would be interesting to see if Panasonic's Android phones manage to bring the landline phones back in vogue.
