Lenovo has launched a new rugged laptop — ThinkPad L430, which is primarily aimed at business professionals. However, its affordable price tag and good features make it enticing enough for even the general consumer. The L430 belongs to the company's "Mainstream Performer" segment and comes with a 14" HD screen with anti-glare treatment. It is powered by a choice of Intel Core i3, i5, and i7 CPUs with 4 GB of RAM, and a 500 GB hard drive. Being a non-touchscreen device, it doesn't really hurt that it comes with Windows 7 Home Premium/Professional, instead of the latest touch-optimised Windows 8. It packs in a plethora of ports including a USB 3.0, two USB 2.0, mini DisplayPort, VGA, card reader, and Express Card reader.

A 720p HD webcam with face tracking and noise-cancelling microphone aids in better video chats/conferencing. The Quick Connect option claims to be able to take you online via Wi-FI or WWAN within 5 seconds from wake. It comes with Dolby Advanced Audio 2.0 for clearer surround sound reproduction, and a 6-cell battery with a backup of up to 8.2 hours, which can be extended via the port to over 13 hours.
