Nokia 301 Candybar Phone Lands In India For Rs 5300

Features an alphanumeric keypad, 3.2 megapixel camera, and 3G support.

Continuing its next billion strategy, Nokia has launched the 301 feature phone in India. The new handset features the candybar design along with a good old alphanumeric keypad. Similar to the Nokia 206, this device mixes the retro design with a dash of bold colours such as cyan, yellow, and magenta. For those who prefer sober shades, it's also available in White and Black. The Finnish giant has also added a Lumia-esque metal stripe around the camera lens.

Moving on to features, the Nokia 301 packs a 2.4” screen with 320x240 pixels, dual-SIM functionality, 3G support, Bluetooth, micro-USB port, FM radio, 3.5 mm jack, microSD card slot, and 1200 mAh battery. The 3.2 megapixel camera gets a special mention as it’s the first feature phone snapper to offer Panorama mode. The phone also comes with an interesting feature called Slam. Using this, you can directly send files to the closest device over Bluetooth without even pairing it.

Based on Series 40 plarform, this phone has built-in apps for Facebook and Twitter. Apart from that, you get Nokia's Xpress browser that compresses data to speed up the browsing and cuts down your GPRS usage. A lite version of Mail for Exchange allows you to check work email and sync their calendars and contacts on-the-go. The handset is priced at Rs 5300, and is available through all major retail and online stores in India. There was a severe dearth of quality non-touch feature phones in India in recent times. The Nokia 301 will look to fill that void.
