Twitter Testing A New Module To Help You Find More Friends
Feature announced at a Bloomberg summit; no news of a final roll out date.
Facebook seems to be getting inspired by Twitter a lot of late. Now, it’s the microblogging service’s turn to return the favour. At the Bloomberg Next Big Thing Summit, Twitter is said to be testing a new feature that lets you find friends with more ease. Basically, if many of your followers all follow a single person in quick succession, then twitter will send you a direct message alert. Michael Sippey, vice president of product at Twitter said that with this feature, users can expand their follower base more conveniently. Although the new feature is in the works, Sippey made no indication as to when it will be rolled out to general users.
Twitter has been in news for a while now, as the word "tweet" is officially listed as a word in the Oxford English Dictionary. With this, two Twitter terms (tweet and retweet) find listing in the popular English dictionary. That coupled with the fact that FB is trying to be more like the microblogging service, shows how popular it has become with netizens.
