Rumour: Apple iPhones With Larger Displays
These devices may be priced low for the US market, and are speculated to be launched next year.
Apple, whose products are a subject of very intense rumours, is now facing another one. Speculations are rife that the Cupertino based company would manufacture iPhones with plastic cases and make these "comparatively cheaper", in a supposed bid to rival Samsung directly. Samsung already has various "low-cost" phones especially in the form of its GALAXY series. Apple could be looking to directly rival Samsung's GALAXY smartphones with their speculated newer/cheaper iPhones.
A Reuters report states that there would be two kinds of devices, a 4.7" (expected to be the cheaper device) and a 5.7" iPhone variant, that are expected to come in six unique colour types. These devices are widely expected to start retailing as early as next year, with a price tag of $99. Before salivating, keep in mind the $99 number (Rs 6,000 approximately) could hold in the US where it is launched, only because of being bundled with a mobile operator's contract plan of 24 months, and that's not the actual full price.
With the 5.7 inch device, Apple looks set to compete with Samsung's "large screen smartphones" such as the Note series, and perhaps the recently released GALAXY S4 as well. However, as Apple is not known for "economical" devices, we would have to wait and watch to know their pricing strategy in India.
Apple is already said to be working on its own version of the Smartwatch, to rival Samsung, Microsoft and even Google, all of whom have seemingly started to work upon their own smartwatch prototypes.
