WWDC 2013: Apple Unveils iTunes Radio Service
Slated to release in the US first later in the year; no clear details on an international launch.
After much speculation, Apple has finally released its much-hyped online music streaming service. Dubbed as iTunes Radio, this ad-supported online service will offer as many as 200 free music stations for your listening pleasure. Touted to rival the likes of Pandora, Radio, Spotify, and Google Music among others, the radio station will let users customise own radio stations by genre, or even skip songs they don't want to listen to. Compatible with the iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac, PC and Apple TV running iOS7, the service starts with a list of "Featured Stations curated by Apple". The service, like others in its genre also "learns" about what you prefer to listen to, as it personalises your experience with time.
iTunes Radio also features Siri integration. Users can opt for an iTunes Match subscription worth $34.99/year (approx Rs 2030) to enjoy the service ad-free. The radio service is slated for a US-only release later in 2013, with no details about a global rollout mentioned yet.
