Bing Desktop Update Brings New Weather App, Facebook Notifications
The new Bing Desktop with all its enhancements, focuses more on the social and is tailor-made for users too lazy to navigate to their browser each time.
Microsoft has refreshed its Bing Desktop that was launched over a year ago by adding new features like Inline Search along with a new Bing Desktop Weather app, and the revamped Facebook and News apps, both of which the company claims would offer users faster ways to explore content. This update is available for users of Microsoft Windows XP and later operating systems. Users could also download the refreshed Bing desktop from its official page.
Bing Desktop's Inline Search enables its users to search directly from a particular web page. To explore this feature, users would have to highlight the desired phrase/word and click the Bing symbol. This mechanism is also applicable to PDF's and Word files as well. Search results for the highlighted word/phrase would be displayed dynamically.
The revamped desktop apps such as the Facebook app, now sport notifications similar to Facebook on the web. Microsoft has also overhauled the News app with a new layout, for faster delivery of news content and more emphasis on image-centered news content. This "Waterfall Layout" also displays the trending/hot aspects from across the internet world.

Along with these enhancements, there is also a new Weather app for real-time weather details, based on users' desired location. All the weather-related information is provided on a single-click, which users would find quite useful.
