HCL ME V2 Android 4.1 Tablet Available At Rs 8,200

The new ME V2 runs on the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean platform, and comes with 1GB RAM.

The HCL ME tablet computer series has got another addition in the form of HCL ME V2 that is open for purchase online. The ME V2 supports voice calling, runs on the Android Jelly Bean operating system, and can be purchased for Rs 8,199 at Infibeam. HCL which claims its ME tablets are among those which budget users look for, has offered average technical specifications in the ME V2 tablet. Primarily competing with low-cost tablets from manufacturers such as iBall, Lava, and Wickedleak, the ME V2's technical specifications are:

  • 7-inch capacitive screen, having 800x480 pixels
  • Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) operating system
  • Voice calling support
  • 1GHz Cortex (single core) processor
  • 1GB DDR3 RAM
  • 4GB internal storage
  • 2 MP rear camera, and a VGA front camera
  • MicroSD card slot for expansion up to 32GB
  • 2G, 3G connectivity (3G through external USB dongle), along with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi
  • 3,800 mAh battery

The 1GB RAM in HCL ME V2 may have been sufficient to run a few higher-end games, if not for the single core processor. The rest of the tech-specs are acceptable considering the tablet's Rs 8,200 price tag, but the price is still double that of similar unbranded Chinese imports.

The 7-inch display of the ME V2 could make the tablet an outside competitor to the 7-inch Samsung GALAXY Tab 2. Samsung's GALAXY Tab 2 is more expensive with similar tech-specs (~15k for over 4GB internal memory, 1GHz dual-core processor, 1GB RAM, microSD card support, 3 MP rear camera), but comes with two superior aspects that are its 4,000 mAh battery and reliability (brand name as well as after-sales service).

HCL also has other tablets in stores, in the ME series such as ME Y2 and the ME U1 devices.
