HTC Desire U Available For Pre-Order, Priced At Rs 13,500
Android 4.0 handset with a 4" screen, dual cameras, and 1 GHz CPU, comes with Beats Audio.
HTC's new mid-range handset — the Desire U — is now available online for pre-order. This is a dual-SIM GSM handset with dual standby. The device runs Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) and is powered by a 1 GHz CPU with only 512 MB of RAM. A 5 MP rear camera with autofocus and LED flash is there in addition to a front camera for video calls. In addition to 3G, it has wireless connectivity with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. GPS is there for navigation and you can download thousands of free and paid apps from Google Play Store. While they are sparse at the moment, here are the device's available specifications:
- Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich), Google Play Store.
- Dual-SIM (GSM + GSM), Dual standby.
- 4" capacitive touchscreen SuperLCD panel with pixel dimensions of 480x800.
- 1 GHz CPU.
- 512 MB RAM, 4 GB internal storage, Up to 32 GB microSD.
- 5 megapixel rear camera with autofocus and LED flash, 0.3 megapixel front camera.
- 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS.
- Beats Audio.
- 1650 mAh battery.
- 9.32 mm thick, 119 grams.
However, the scant 512 MB of RAM could hurt performance even at the WVGA pixel dimensions. One of the attractive features of this smartphone is the Beats Audio amplifier that should be great for music with a pair of decent headphones. The HTC Desire U is available for pre-order in Stealth Black and Polar White colour schemes for Rs 13,500, which seems to be too high considering the specifications are dated.
