Samsung Launches Two Unwieldy GALAXY Mega Phones, Prices Start From Rs 25,000
The Jelly Bean devices feature 6.3" and 5.8" screens, dual-core CPU, and 8 megapixel camera.
If the 5.5" Note II wasn't enough, Samsung has now unveiled two new phones with 5.8" and 6.3" screen sizes. Appropriately named as GALAXY Mega, these phones run Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean) out of the box. Similar to the GALAXY Grand, both handsets come with dual-core processors, and the 5.8" version also packs in dual-SIM functionality. Both the devices offer features such as Group Play, Story Album, S Translator, Multi Window, Pop Up Play, ChatON, WatchON, TeamPlay, S Travel, and S Voice 2.0. Detailed specs are as follows:
Samsung GALAXY Mega 6.3 specifications:
- 6.3" HD TFT screen.
- 1.7 GHz dual-core CPU, 1.5 GB of RAM.
- 8 megapixel rear camera, 1.9 megapixel front-facing snapper.
- Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth 4.0, USB 2.0, GPS (GLONASS), NFC, MHL.
- Sensors: Accelerometer, RGB light, Geomagnetic, Proximity, Gyroscope.
- 6.1"(l) x 3.5" (w) x 0.3" (8.0 mm) (d), 199 grams.
- 8/16 GB internal storage; microSD support for up to 64 GB.
- 3,200 mAh Li-ion battery.
- Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean), Google Play support.
Samsung GALAXY Mega 5.8 specifications:
- Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean), Google Play support.
- 5.8" qHD TFTscreen.
- 1.4 GHz dual-core CPU, 1.5 GB of RAM.
- 8 megapixel rear camera, 1.9 megapixel front-facing snapper.
- Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth 4.0, USB 2.0, GPS (GLONASS), NFC, MHL.
- Sensors: Accelerometer, Geomagnetic, Proximity, Light, Gyroscope.
- 8 GB internal storage; microSD support for up to 64 GB.
- 6.4" (l) x 3.2" (w) x 0.4" (9.0 mm) (d), 182 grams.
- 2600 mAh Li-ion battery.
The GALAXY Mega 5.8 is priced at Rs 25,100, while the Mega 6.3 will set you back by Rs 31,490. I personally don't like handsets with screens bigger than 4.7-inch. So while the GALAXY S III was meant for humans, I guess these two handsets are made for Orcs.
