Samsung Galaxy Young In India For Rs 7,850
An alternative device to the cheap, less-known brands that dominate the "low-cost" smartphone segment in India.
Samsung had announced the budget priced GALAXY Young (GT-S6312) a long time ago, and had not shown signs of releasing the smartphone in India officially (although the Young was available unofficially with various online retailers, but not on Samsung India's official e-store). Now, finally, the consumer electronics manufacturer has released the GALAXY Young for the India market, and has placed a Rs 8,010 price tag on the device (Samsung e-store price). Buyers can purchase the Samsung GALAXY Young from Flipkart for Rs 7,850. Although expensive for the specs on offer, brand conscious buyers may consider the Galaxy Young as an alternative to "cheap" Indo-Chinese labels that rule the budget-priced Android smartphones segment in India. The plus point is that the Galaxy Young is by Samsung, a company with numerous customer service centers in India.
Samsung's GALAXY Young is incorporated with fairly average technical specifications:
- 3.2" HVGA display, 320x480 pixels
- Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) operating system
- Samsung's TouchWiz nature UX
- 1GHz single-core processor
- Dual-SIM support
- 3 MP rear camera
- 512 MB RAM
- 2GB internal memory
- MicroSD card slot for expansion up to 32GB
- 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and microUSB connectivity
- 1300 mAh battery with claimed talk time of up to 6 hrs on 3G
Along with these tech-specs, Samsung has also incorporated the Galaxy Young with features such as Easy Mode, Motion UI apart from free Dropbox and S Cloud storage. However, all is not rosy for Samsung's GALAXY Young, as the smartphone has likely competitors in the form of domestic models such as the Lava Iris 455, which offer better specifications and multimedia capability as compared to the GALAXY Young.
