Maxx Releases AX8 Race And AX9Z Race Smartphones
These Android smartphones with dual-SIM functionality sport large screens and average hardware.
Maxx mobiles has released two new Android smartphones called Maxx AX9Z Race and Maxx AX8 Race. Will the brand nomenclature of these devices, "Race", take these phones ahead of competition, let's find out:
Tech-spec wise, the AX8 Race has a 5-inch display, runs on a generation old Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich platform, offers 8MP primary camera, and has a 1GHz single core processor. The processor may not take this phone ahead in the race, as a dual-core processor is a basic expectation from phones in this price range. Notable technical specifications of AX8 Race are as follows:
- 5-inch WVGA display having 480x800 pixels
- Android 4.0.3 (Ice Cream Sandwich) operating system
- 1 GHz single-core processor
- 8MP rear snapper, and 2MP front camera
- 512 MB RAM
- 4 GB internal storage
- MicroSD card slot for expansion up to 32GB
- Bluetooth 3.0, Wi-Fi, and microUSB connectivity
- 2300 mAh battery with claimed talk time of 4.5-5 hrs
The AX8 Race can be bought from Maxx's online store for Rs 8,218. At a similar price point, one can get the Lava Iris 501 or the Micromax Canvas Music A88, both with dual-core CPU but 5MP cameras.
Maxx Race AX9Z:
This smartphone is more expensive than the AX8 Race, and comes with a larger 5.3 inch display, and has a 1.2GHz dual-core processor. The smartphone can be purchased for Rs 11,458 from Maxx's online store. Notable tech-specs are:
- 5.3-inch capacitive touch screen display having 960x540 pixels
- Android 4.1.1 (Jelly Bean) operating system
- Dual-SIM support (WCDMA+GSM)
- 1.2 GHz dual-core processor
- 8MP primary camera, and a 2MP secondary camera
- 512 MB RAM
- 4 GB internal storage
- microSD card slot for expansion up to 32GB
- Bluetooth 3.0, Wi-Fi and microUSB connectivity
- 2300 mAh battery with claimed talk time of 4.5-5 hrs
The Race AX9Z at it's selling price disappoints with a dual core processor and 512 MB RAM. For the same price tag, you get the quad-core Xolo Q800 that comes with twice the RAM (1GB) offered by the Race AX9Z. Though the Xolo has a 4.5-inch screen as compared to 5.3-inch on the AX9Z, the resolution is the same, meaning the picture will look sharper on the former as the pixel density is noticeably higher. A larger screen doesn't make a phone better.
