Samsung Galaxy S4 Gets 3% Price Cut
Price of Samsung's flagship is slowly closing in on Sony's flagship Xperia Z, when online retail prices are taken into account.
You get to save money if you had not already bought the most-awaited Android flagship of the year, Samsung's Galaxy S4 which became available globally and in India simultaneously last month. The Samsung Galaxy S4 has got a price cut of Rs 1,200 thus selling at Rs 40,299 on the larger e-commerce sites, and going down to as low as Rs 38,955 on the smaller ones. The flagship smartphone two weeks ago had a price tag of Rs 41,500 which makes for a significant reduction of 3 per cent now.
This is good for consumers, considering the GALAXY S4 was launched barely 3 weeks ago. If you were going to buy the device, but desisted from pre-ordering it on day one itself, the wait turns out to have been worth it. As we mentioned earlier, you'd do well to wait until June passes, by when the price may officially touch the 38k point, which is closer to that of the Sony's Xperia Z.
Spec wise, both the above phones follow the latest trends with respect to display, camera resolution and processing capability, but the Galaxy S4 runs the Android 4.2.2 whereas Xperia Z hasn't yet been updated from the Android 4.1 platform that it ships with. The S4 with a 2,600mAh battery also beats the 2,330mAh battery of the Xperia Z.
The price cut in Samsung's Galaxy S4 thankfully returns us to normal, after a trend reversal by Micromax's flagship A116 Canvas HD which rose in price (increased by 1k after 30 days of release due to availability issues). It thus seems like Samsung isn't facing component supply or availability issues to meet customer demand, possibly because it is trying to break records of units shipped. It may also have offered sufficient profit margins for vendors to be able to compete online even after significant price cuts. As of now, Samsung's GALAXY S4 is available across all major retailers (online and brick-n-mortar), so do check on the price to see whether you can get discounts.
