Coming Soon: Twitter's Music App
Touted to let you listen to music and view videos from within the micro-blogging site.
For those who thought that 140 characters are too little to have any kind of social impact, well, Twitter has already proved otherwise. To make microblogging experience more intuitive, the service has acquired apps such Summify and Vine in the past, and has now set its sight on music. After taking over WeAreHunted.com, a report from AllThingsD suggests that Twitter will soon be rolling out a music app.
Using this app, users can listen to music clips via third-party services including iTunes, SoundCloud and view music videos through Vevo. It will also suggest artists and tracks after considering a user's Twitter account details such as his profile description, and list of people he follows through the service.
While the service is expected to be rolled out over this weekend, we'll have to wait and watch how useful it proves to be. And more importantly, it remains to be seen if it dilutes Twitter's key proposition - simplicity.
