The new update now brings enhanced privacy as well as effective download monitoring tools.

 

Mozilla is out with the next iteration in the Firefox web browser series, Firefox 20. Apart from privacy enhancements, the update also promises a refurbished download manager. This new download manager enables users to monitor all downloads without switching windows.

Alongside with the desktop browser, Firefox's Android app has also been updated. This now makes Firefox compatible with (older) ARM v6 architecture devices including Samsung GALAXY Next, HTC Legend, Samsung GALAXY Pop, and the Samsung GALAXY Q. Also, the system requirements have been lowered to 384 MB of RAM and QVGA displays. With the new Firefox update, Android users will be able to customise Firefox shortcuts in the home screen.

Both versions offer privacy for tabbed browsing between private and non-private sessions, and support for multiple-private windows with individual privacy settings.

I'm not sure if Firefox has remained the slick 'light on the resources' browser over the years. But choosing Firefox over the others is a no-brainer on any given day for the levels of privacy and feature rich add-ons it offers. Here's to 15 years of remaining free and open as promised, cheers Firefox!
