Samsung Galaxy Pocket Neo, Galaxy Star Officially Unveiled
Both these smartphones are entry-level Android Jelly Bean devices.
Samsung's two new entry-level smartphones, the GALAXY Pocket Neo and GALAXY Star have now been unveiled officially. Both the phones have a 3-inch display and run Android 4.1 Jelly bean out of the box.
These smartphones are the latest addition to the already overcrowded low-cost Indian smartphone market. Although the pricing details of Samsung's GALAXY Pocket Neo and GALAXY Star are unknown, they are expected to have a comparatively low price tag as both the devices are being branded as "entry-level" Android smartphones. We expect their prices to be in the Rs 6500 to 7500 range.
Both the Samsung GALAXY Pocket Neo and GALAXY Star have fairly similar technical specifications (in addition to their 3-inch display and Android 4.1 platform), such as the 2 MP camera and 4 GB internal memory. The devices also come with dual-SIM support, 512 MB RAM and Samsung's TouchWiz user interface. However, they differ in their processors. GALAXY Pocket Neo packs a 850 MHz processor whereas GALAXYStar has a 1 GHz processor. For connectivity, users are provided with Bluetooth 4.0 and WiFi.
On the other hand, Samsung GALAXY Star disappointed gadget lovers across the globe as it failed to meet its MWC 2013 deadline.
The specifications of these two phones are far from flattering and pricing will be the key. Samsung GALAXY Pocket Neo and GALAXY Star are likely to face stiff competition from other affordable Android Jelly Bean smartphones such as Karbonn Retina A27 (Price: Rs 9,000) or those with Android Ice Cream Sandwich such as XOLO A700 and Karbonn A9+ in the sub-7.5K range that offer impressive specifications like dual core processor, larger and higher resolution screens and much better cameras. The brand name vs specifications battle is just about to intensify further.
