Government agencies seem to be warming up to social media and mobile technology, albeit at their trademark snail's pace. After holding Google+ Hangout sessions post the Union Budget, and one for the 12th National 5-year Plan (both of which were drab, for the want of a better word), it's the turn of the Information & Broadcasting (I&B) ministry to go tech. The government-funded FM Radio's news service app is available for download. Apart from text feeds, the app also features audio news and language bulletins alongside half-hourly programs featured on its radio channels. The app has a clean layout, and is easy to navigate around.

Apart from the app, in an official press release, the ministry also announced a new website offering streaming live feeds for its AIR URDU SERVICE and FM GOLD channels.
