3G Variant Of Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 Appears At FCC
But the device runs an old Android 4.1.2 OS, out of the box.
Samsung's Galaxy Note 8.0 was launched at the Mobile World Congress 2013 (MWC) that concluded last month. The device supports the 800/1900 MHz 3G band, and features the S-Pen (stylus-like complement featured in all Galaxy Note devices). The Wi-Fi version of the Note 8.0, appeared at the FCC in January this year.
Now, the 3G variant of the Galaxy Note 8.0 (GT-N5100) has been handed over to the Federal communications Commission (FCC), for certification, and is said to support upto 21 Mbps speeds, by virtue of its support for HSPA+ connectivity.
The tech specs are similar to the Wi-Fi variant:
- 8-inch display.
- Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean platform.
- 1.6 GHz quad-core processor (Exynos 4412 chipset).
- 2GB of RAM.
- internal storage of 16GB
- microSD card slot for expandability
- 5MP rear camera, 1.3MP front camera.
Considering it runs on the Exynos 4412 SoC, expect the performance of the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 to be largely similar to the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 (1.6 GHz) and the Samsung Galaxy S3 (1.4 GHz). The only false step may have been Samsung's choice of Android 4.1.2 for the Galaxy Note 8.0 tablet. One would have ideally expected the upcoming device to run the latest version - Android 4.2 which is itself half a year old now since its release in November 2012.
