Uninor To Refund Prepaid Subscribers In Mumbai
Erstwhile Uninor customers in Mumbai are also being offered portability, and a helpline in this regard.
As per a TRAI directive, Uninor has been asked to refund the prepaid account balance of its subscribers in Mumbai telecom circle within 15 days, and to ensure that its customers are ported to other service providers. The operator was asked to suspend its services in this telecom circle, as per a Supreme Court directive.
Uninor subscribers claiming refunds need to present their SIM cards and a valid identity proof, after which refunds by cash will be issued to them post verification.
Uninor stated in a press release, that so far it has disbursed Rs 4 lakh in refunds, and has also put up a list of retail stores which customers can visit to claim refunds. The operator will also be facilitating number-portability to customers. "We have been requesting the TRAI to allow number portability for our Mumbai customers. We are thankful to the regulator for accepting our request. Since we had already put the entire process in place while awaiting approvals for launch, Uninor can start providing MNP codes to customers immediately," stated Sigve Brekke, Managing Director of Uninor in the release.
For users who want to port their mobile phone number, a helpline number is functional (91750 91750) and people can use it to get details about MNP/porting. To find out which retail stores in Mumbai are offering refunds, click here.
As of now, Uninor will continue its services for 20 years where it has successfully bid for spectrum, in the following telecom circles: Goa, Maharashtra, Gujarat, UP East, UP West, Bihar and Jharkhand.
