Android 4.0-Based Simmtronics Xpad X1010 With 10.1" Screen Launched For Rs 8500

The cheapest ICS-based tablet with such a large display is powered by a 1.2 GHz CPU with 1 GB of RAM, sports front camera, and has a powerful 5600 mAh battery.

Simmtronics, the company famed for manufacturing memory products in the recent past, has now launched yet another tablet — Xpad X1010 running Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). The device sports a 10.1" screen with pixel dimensions of 1024x600. The screen, therefore, has less densely packed pixels than a 7" 800x480 screen whose PPI of 133 is slightly higher than the X1010's 117.5. The CPU is a single-core 1.2 GHz with 1 GB of RAM and dual-core Mali-400 GPU. Here is the specifications sheet:

  • Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich).
  • 10.1" capacitive multi-touch screen with pixel dimensions 1024x600.
  • Cortex-A8 1.2 GHz CPU and Mali-400 dual-core GPU.
  • 1 GB DDR3 RAM, 8 GB internal storage, Up to 32 GB via microSD.
  • 0.3 megapixel front camera.
  • Wi-Fi, 3G USB dongle support, 2x micro-USB port (OTG and Host).
  • 3.5 mm audio jack, HDMI-out.
  • 5600 mAh battery with up to 150 hours standby time.
  • 10.35" (w) x 6.5" (d) x 0.4" (10.5 mm) (h), 610 grams.
  • Package Contents: Tablet, Charger, USB cable, Hands-free, User manual, Warranty card.

The Simmtronics Xpad X1010 is available online at Rs 8500, making it the cheapest 10.1" tablet available in the market.

Is it really worth the price? Feature-wise, the pros of this tablet are obviously the large screen, the hardware that can run most apps, the HDMI-out that can play back Full HD content on a big screen, and a high capacity battery that should provide good backup time. Probably the only visible con is the screen with not-so-densely-packed pixels. However, we won't hold that against the X1010 as the pros outweigh the cons.
