Wikipad To Launch Its $250 Gaming Tablet Before July

Offers a proper game controller strapped on to a 7" IPS screen. The Tegra 3 GPU means that a wide range of Android games are already available for the platform.

Wikipad, the tablet cum gaming console has been talked a lot by the gamers across the world. Now after several delays, the device is finally expected to hit the market before July. The product is basically a well specc'd slate coupled with an attachable gaming controller.

The Wikipad offers a 7" IPS screen (16:10 aspect ratio), 16 GB memory with microSD card slot to support an additional 32 GB of storage. Games will be handled by the NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core mobile processor and it is optimized for cloud gaming. On the software front, which I think is one of the most important aspects of console; you get the tried and trusted Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. Apart from being able to enjoy thousands of games from Google Play Store, the device will receive some exclusive content from TegraZone, PlayStation Mobile, OnLive, Big Fish Games, and many others. Needless to say that, after removing the gaming controller, you can use the Wikipad for day-to-day tasks such as web browsing and media consumption.

According to the manufacturer, the Wikipad will launch in Spring 2013 at a price tag of $250 (Approx. Rs 14,000). Judging from the images, I'd say that Sony's PS Vita still has the lead in the design department. However, thanks to the Android ecosystem, the console already flaunts numerous gaming titles including Max Payne, Dead Trigger, and GTA Vice City.
