Now Report Bribery From Your Mobile

Corruption busting website empowers the common Indian man.

The common Indian man doesn't have to depend on Anna Hazare to achieve eradication of corruption if he can take a stand against it. IPaidABribe.com is a website launched in August this year, where people can anonymously share their experiences of bribery, including where it took place and how much money was involved, to help create awareness about this unfortunate phenomenon. Now, you don't even need to go online to do that; you can do the same right from your mobile phone by SMS.

When you go to this website, you can enter details about the city, department in which the incident occurred, transaction, amount paid, date, office location, bribe type, and more detailed information. Due to the limitations on the number of characters, a similar report can also be filed via SMS, albeit with fewer details. To report a bribe, you can send a text message (limited to a total of 160 characters) in the following format:
BRIBE
and send it to 58888.
e.g. BRIBE I had to bribe the RTO officer to get two-wheeler license Thane RTO Rs.200

The complaints made in this manner then appear on the website under the SMS section, just like the complaints you lodge by going on the website.

IPaidABribe or IPAB is an initiative of Janaagraha, a not-for-profit organization aiming to create awareness amongst the masses to eradicate corruption. The organization also has a social networking initiative called iJanaagraha, meant for sharing urban civic and electoral issues with the aim of bringing about a change in a positive direction. The next time someone asks you for a bribe, make sure to register your experience on IPAB.
