Confirmed: Samsung GALAXY S IV Will Have 4.99" 1080p Screen

Company's roadmap spotted during CES 2013; Korean manufacturer is forthcoming with clarifications.

 

The guys at Anandtech seem to have spotted a roadmap with detailed information about screen sizes and pixel densities of the Samsung's upcoming devices on a timeline, during their visit to the company's demo room at CES 2013. Among other things, the photo posted on the website shows that the GALAXY S IV is expected to have a Full HD (1080p) screen measuring 4.99" diagonally with pixel density of 440 ppi. While it doesn't explicitly mention the device by name, the launch date very much confirms the same. The good thing (for Samsung fandroids) is that the handset is anticipated in Q1 2013, which puts its estimated launch date before the end of March this year. The Korean electronics giant has not been forthcoming about details regarding this roadmap, making it seem like a major slip-up on the company's end. The section and photo has since been taken down from the source website on Samsung's request.

The website further reports that the snap shows a series of current and projected AMOLED screen devices that are classified according to pixel dimensions as WVGA (800x480), qHD (960x540), HD (1280x720 or 720p), and FHD (1920x1080). Since the timeline starts from Q2 2010 and ends at Q1 2013, and with only the SGS4 set to be coming out in the period, everything points to a new flagship handset. But for now, all we can do is wait and watch.
