Facebook Opens Registrations For Annual Hacker Cup Competition
Top hacker stands to win $10,000.
This seems like a good time to be a programmer, and if you are better than the current lot out there, then the annual Facebook Hacker Cup Competition has opened registrations. The Facebook Hacker Cup is an annual worldwide programming competition where hackers compete against each other to solve algorithms to win some serious money. The competition will be held in two rounds: A preliminary online qualification round, out of which 25 of the best will be flown to Facebook's headquarters in California, USA.
The preliminary online qualification round will be held between January 25 and February 16, with the onsite finals scheduled for 22nd and 23rd March, 2013.
Here's the complete event schedule:
- Registration: January 7 to January 27
- Online Qualification Round: January 25 - February 16
- Onsite Finals at Facebook HQ: March 22 and 23
This is by no means an easy battle to win. With a top prize of $10,000, last year's edition attracted 8,000 participants from 150 countries. The last date for entries is 27th January, and you can register here.
